Announcing: “Scholarship With an Open Mindset” – A Talk by Paola Corti
We are excited to announce an inspiring online talk titled “Scholarship With an Open Mindset,” to be delivered by Paola Corti on April 16th. This event is hosted by Irish Open Access Publishers (IOAP), a dynamic community dedicated to advancing the Diamond Open Access publishing model, which aims to provide scholarly content that is free to publish and free to read; and the Library Association of Ireland (LAI) Library Publishing Group.
About Paola Corti: Paola Corti is an expert in open education and an advocate for innovative pedagogical approaches. She currently serves as Open Education Community Manager for SPARC Europe, where she supports the implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Educational Resources (OERs) within the European Network of Open Education Librarians (ENOEL). Paola also works at METID, the learning innovation unit of Politecnico di Milano, where she manages international projects, designs MOOCs, and contributes to professional development courses aimed at faculty members and researchers.
With a deep background in distance learning since 1998, Paola has been a passionate proponent of open education, advocating for accessible, flexible, and inclusive learning practices. Her work spans across international borders, helping educators and institutions embrace open, innovative educational practices that enrich teaching and learning experiences.
About the Talk: In “Scholarship With an Open Mindset,” Paola will explore how openness in academia—whether in research, education, or publishing—can lead to greater collaboration, innovation, and accessibility. With a focus on the transformative power of Open Education, she will discuss how this approach removes barriers that limit the reach and impact of educational resources and practices. The talk will also highlight how adopting an open mindset can reshape the way we engage with scholarship, making knowledge more freely available to all.
